“Brooks – The City of 100 Hellos” will be at the Lucerne International Film Festival’s LIFF Showcase in Switzerland from October 19-23.
The City of Brooks, Alberta will be playing host to the premiere of the new documentary, Brooks – The City of 100 Hellos. The documentary was filmed in Brooks by an Brandy Yanchyk of Brandy Y Productions Inc. and was supported by OMNI Television, the Alberta Multimedia Development Fund and the Canadian Film or Video Tax Credit. The documentary is set to air nationwide on OMNI Television in October but the residents of Brooks are being given a chance to view the film first.
There will be two opportunities to view the documentary on October 22nd, 2011. The screenings will be held at the Griffin Park Auditorium and are free to attend. There will be a matinee at 3:00pm and an evening show at 8:00pm; a question and answer period with the director and producer will follow each showing.
Brooks – The City of 100 Hellos is a documentary about how immigration changes and challenges a cowboy town. Set against the backdrop of the City’s 100th Anniversary, the film is a rare glimpse into the lives of many of the new immigrants, refugees and temporary foreign workers that have moved to Brooks. The documentary was filmed in Brooks and surrounding areas over the course of several months in the spring and summer of 2010.
